We eradicated the Home Antivirus 2010 fake anti-virus/anti-spyware malware from Pat's laptop. It was a pretty nasty one, having changed the registry keys to have all exefile associations pointed to the virus. Any .exe that was clicked, started up another instance of the virus. In the end, though, KnightsRim DataTech was successful at stomping this bug out. Needless to say, Pat was very happy with our service.

Doug had a similar virus but under a different guise. Internet Security 2010 was the rogue anti-virus/anti-spyware app that was downloaded to the computer. It changed a few registry keys and had control of users logging in, updates being applied, and traffic going in and out of the internet. Also, there was a registry key that had been deleted, preventing anyone from logging on. Unfortunately for the virus, GNU / Linux cares nothing about such things.
